Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 15, 2026

SH*T HAPPENS BY DESIGN (“SHBD,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a program operated by Futura Studios LLC, a business based in Puerto Rico that provides programs and experiences in Puerto Rico, Pennsylvania, and other locations. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices available to you when you visit our website, register for an experience, or communicate with us.

Information We Collect

We may collect information that you provide directly, including:

  • Your name, email address, telephone number, and professional information
  • Registration details, including whether you are attending individually or with a team
  • Community-partner affiliation when you request partner pricing
  • Responses to preparation questionnaires
  • Accessibility, dietary, or accommodation requests
  • Communications you send to us
  • Participant agreements and related acknowledgments
  • Feedback provided during or after an experience

We may also collect limited technical information when you use our website, such as your browser type, device type, IP address, referring page, and basic website activity. We will update this policy if we add analytics, advertising cookies, or other tracking technologies that materially change what we collect.

How We Use Information

We use personal information to:

  • Process and manage registrations
  • Confirm eligibility for community-partner pricing
  • Communicate schedules, preparation instructions, policies, and program updates
  • Prepare for and facilitate the experience
  • Provide requested accommodations
  • Respond to questions and support requests
  • Process transfers, cancellations, and refunds
  • Maintain business, tax, accounting, and legal records
  • Protect participants, SHBD, our hosting partners, and the integrity of the experience
  • Improve future SHBD programs using aggregated feedback and observations
  • Send marketing communications only when you have requested or agreed to receive them

You may unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time. Transactional communications relating to a registration, payment, policy, or scheduled experience are not marketing messages.

Payments Through Stripe

Payments are processed through Stripe. When you make a purchase, Stripe may collect your name, contact information, billing information, payment-method details, transaction information, device information, and other information needed to process the payment, prevent fraud, and manage disputes or refunds.

SHBD does not receive or store your complete credit- or debit-card number. We generally receive limited transaction information, such as your name, email address, amount paid, payment status, and relevant refund or dispute information.

Stripe handles personal information according to its own Privacy Policy. By using Stripe Checkout or another Stripe payment service, you also provide information directly to Stripe and its financial partners.

Participant Confidentiality

SHBD experiences involve strategic collaboration, reflection, and discussion. Participants may share business plans, personal circumstances, professional challenges, financial considerations, intellectual property, or other sensitive information.

To protect the working environment, all participants must sign a separate Participant Agreement containing confidentiality and nondisclosure obligations before attending. Participants will be expected not to disclose, reproduce, record, publish, or use another participant’s confidential information outside the experience without that participant’s permission.

The Participant Agreement will define the specific obligations, exclusions, and remedies that apply. This Privacy Policy does not replace that agreement.

SHBD will establish and reinforce confidentiality expectations, but no group environment can guarantee that another participant will comply with their obligations. Participants should use reasonable judgment and should not share trade secrets, regulated information, third-party confidential information, or information they are not authorized to disclose.

Audio or video recording of facilitated sessions is prohibited unless SHBD and all affected participants provide prior written permission.

Photographs and Testimonials

We will not use an identifiable participant’s photograph, video, name, testimonial, or attributed story for marketing without notice and appropriate permission.

Participants may decline optional photography or marketing participation without affecting their ability to participate in the substantive program.

We may use anonymous or aggregated feedback that does not reasonably identify an individual or their business.

Hosting and Community Partners

Some experiences may be held in coworking spaces or other partner venues. We may provide a hosting partner with limited information reasonably necessary to:

  • Confirm authorized access
  • Prepare visitor credentials or check-in records
  • Support building security
  • Address accessibility or safety requirements
  • Verify community-partner eligibility
  • Respond to an incident or insurance requirement

This information will generally be limited to details such as your name, attendance date, contact information, and relevant access or accommodation needs.

A hosting partner may separately require you to sign in, follow its building rules, or complete its own waiver or visitor agreement. Information collected directly by the hosting partner is governed by that organization’s policies. When practical, we will notify participants of material venue requirements before the experience.

When We Disclose Information

We do not sell personal information.

We may disclose limited personal information to service providers that help us operate the website and experiences, including payment processors, website hosts, email providers, registration tools, professional advisers, and venue partners. These providers receive only the information reasonably necessary to perform their services.

We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to:

  • Comply with applicable law, legal process, or a valid government request
  • Enforce our agreements and policies
  • Investigate fraud, security concerns, or misconduct
  • Protect the rights, safety, and property of SHBD, participants, partners, or others
  • Complete a business reorganization, merger, acquisition, or transfer, subject to appropriate confidentiality protections

We do not authorize service providers to use participant information for their own unrelated marketing on our behalf. Information a provider collects independently is governed by that provider’s own privacy policy.

Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide our programs, manage registrations, respond to requests, resolve disputes, and satisfy applicable accounting, tax, insurance, contractual, and legal obligations.

Preparation responses and program materials containing sensitive information will not be retained longer than reasonably necessary to prepare for, deliver, and conclude the experience unless you request continued support, consent to another use, or a longer retention period is required by law.

When personal information is no longer reasonably necessary, we may delete, anonymize, or securely dispose of it.

Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information from unauthorized access, use, alteration, or disclosure. However, no website, payment system, email service, or storage method can be guaranteed completely secure.

If we become aware of a data-security incident, we will investigate it and provide notices to affected individuals, regulators, or other parties when required by applicable law. The specific legal requirements may depend on factors including where an affected individual resides and where the relevant business activity occurred.

Your Choices and Rights

Depending on applicable law, you may request that we:

  • Provide access to personal information we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Delete information that we are not legally required to retain
  • Stop sending marketing communications
  • Explain how your information has been used or disclosed

SHBD programs and this website are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18.
